NIAMH MCGUINNESS

Working predominantly with textiles and creative writing, across themes that are essentially both playful and poetic, Niamh McGuinness is interested in evoking events and stories through obsessive iconography, material practices and autobiographical observations.
Creative writing is a key element in the realisation of the artist’s practice, informing and shaping the physical work she makes and often becoming an integral part of the work itself. Conversely, she uses the physical activity of making within her practice to reflect on ideas within her writing. The artist aims to immerse the audience in her obsessions, placing them in the moments she captures within her situational texts and material works.
